Portland Design Works has made some really cute and clever bottle cages over the years and the latest might be the best yet. Surely you’ve seen images of sea otters floating on their backs, with a lap full of mussels or oysters. This behavior inspired PDW to make these adorable Otter Cages… They’re in stock for $25 and shipping today from Portland Design Works!

We’ve been talking a lot about titanium as of late it seems but we couldn’t help ourselves to post up these limited edition, titanium straw and bottle cage pairings from Silca. The titanium Morse cages Wolf Tooth has been having a hard time keeping in stock is now back and they’re now making these cages in-house. Named after the dash-dot-dash design found on the backing of the cage, which allows for 32mm of vertical adjustment, these titanium cages weigh only 33g and will probably outlive you! When you see the three new colors of Velocity’s made in the USA Bottle Trap cages, it’s hard not to think of the South West. With the new burgundy, tan, and gold colors they can complement your earth-tone build quite well.  Or if you prefer other colors, there is a wide spectrum available. Silca jumps on the bourbon anodizing wagon – or off the wagon? – with Chris King and announced today a limited edition bourbon pack which includes two Sicuro bottle cages, with matching hardware and two titanium straws. I love playful bicycle accessories, especially ones influenced by Japanese culture. Portland Design Works’ newest bottle cage is a side-access cage, made from a single sheet of lightweight 5052 alloy. Cut in the shape of a Maneki-neko (Japanese for “beckoning cat”), known worldwide as the “Lucky Cat.” They’re currently sold out, but you can back-order one from your local PDW dealer.

The need to carry things bigger than your standard water bottle quickly becomes apparent when you’re bikepacking or touring in remote areas. A giant canister (32oz or 40oz) like a Nalgene, or the like can go a long ways, which is why I’m really loving the variety of larger cages we’re seeing spring up in the market.
