Riding in the Tetons with Mavic
Photos and words by Ryan Wilson

A couple weeks ago Mavic invited a group of journalists, athletes, and myself to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to put a few pieces from their revamped Ksyrium lineup through their paces in and around Grand Teton National Park. This was my first time in Wyoming and really my first time riding in the Rockies at all, so it goes without saying I was excited to see what the riding was like.

MAVIC® Trans-Provence 2015: Day 02

If you need a reason to be stoked on the Trans Provence, just look at this video’s title image. A mix of old vernacular and modern MTB technology creates this dichotomy of trail stokedness. Or something like that. Just check out the MAVIC® Trans Provence’s Day 02 coverage and look for our boy Ty in the mix!

… oh and happy birthday Gary!

The Col Collective: Col d’Aspin

With all this dirt on the site as of late, I figured it’d be nice to spice it up a bit with another video from the Col Collective… Here’s Michael’s latest video, featuring the Col d’Aspin.

Mavic Widens their Ksyrium Elite Wheels

It’s taken them longer than other brands but Mavic has finally agreed that wider is better in terms of rim interior and exterior width. Their new Ksyrium Elites are now 25mm wide, resulting in an internal rim width of 17mm. Throw either a tire of your choice on these wheels, or ride the supplied 25mm Yksion Pro tires. The Ksyrium Elites come with color options, offering red hubs with red spoke nipples, blue or a clean black on black finish. Retail is set at $790.90 for the wheelset, Yksion Pro tires and skewers included.

The Col Collective: Stelvio

The Col Collective takes on one of the most iconic climbs, Stelvio!

“As the highest road pass in Italy, standing proud at 2,758 metres, the Passo dello Stelvio needs very little introduction. From Prato its 48 bends carve their way up the mountain in what appears to be an endless road towards heaven, constantly switching back and forth the higher you climb. This was the final ascent of the day after two days in and around the Eastern and Italian Alps, we had a long transfer over to the Dolomites to look forward to but before doing so one last (big) mission to complete. Although warm and bright in the valley when we started the clouds were thickening up above and temperature dropping fast as the sun dipped its head on the distant horizon. Will we make it to the top before dark was the question on everyone’s mind? Watch now to find out. Chasing daylight, climbing mountains, what a feeling, this is definitely why we ride! “

The Road to Mont Blanc

It’s hard to beat the Swiss Alps!

“After crossing the French Alps non-stop last summer, Mavic ambassador Mike Cotty prepares to take on his longest and toughest journey to date, a 1000km traverse of the Dolomites, Eastern Alps and Swiss Alps featuring 21 mountains and 23,000 metres of elevation. Watch how Mike and his team get ready as they embark on an adventure of new and unknown limits. The Road to Mont Blanc – coming August 2014.”

Garrett Chow on the Argonaut Mavic 125ans Road Bike

Garrett Chow is an exceptional designer and I’m very fond of his work. In today’s industry, so many cycling-related projects rely on paint design, meaning it’s the ultimate crux in a project’s success.

It’s easy to draw some chevrons, or paint a logo a pantone and call it a day, but to really dive into data, something that’s typically not visually stimulating and pull a compelling paint job from a series of numbers and historical markers takes talent.

With the recent Mavic 125ans project bikes, I took a liking to Argonaut‘s design. There was information there and it required you to stop and really examine every aspect of the bike. There were a lot of immaculate paint jobs in the 125ans bikes, but this one was more than that…
