A common issue plaguing seatposts on ‘cross bikes is the inevitable slipping at the saddle rail clamp. The ISA system, or Independent Saddle Adjustment, allows you to lock in the saddle’s position with two bolts, ensuring your saddle won’t slip on remount. See the new EC70 and EC90 posts at Easton.
This week Hope announced their new made in the UK carbon seatpost which touts the weight (195g) for a road or XC rig, but is strong enough for DH riding. Hope can do no wrong in my opinion and I can’t wait to see one of these in person, late March. For now, check out more information at Hope!
People keep talking about dropper posts on cross bikes and while I understand their concerns, I think these Ergon CF3 posts are the perfect solution for those wanting a post that absorbs rough roads or trails. They’re light, fairly easy to setup – use a torque wrench! – and I was amazed at how much “shock” they actually absorb. Aside from rider weight limitations (220lbs), they seem to be resilient. I’ve since put it on my cross bike for trail riding and even after some remounts and wrecks, it hasn’t slipped. I didn’t even use the shim…
